Sascha Selke contracted to write "genetic" music
Vienna based science communications agency dialog gentechnik has just contracted Sascha Selke to compose a set of pieces which transfer genetic information into musical information.
Profiting from his experience in translating non-musical structures into music (such as in his Kepler opera Johannes or in his topographical analysis for the music for Rogner Bad Blumau), the first piece – the “Evolution Sonata” for string quartet and piano – will be first performed in Autumn 2009 in Vienna and will depict the evolution of simple amino acid sequences into complex life forms in terms of music.
